Greetings! I am very excited to start this orchestra in Biloxi to bring the community together and share great literature with our audience. Please read updates below:
We are looking to have one concert cycle before the start of the summer. This will begin on March 16th and end on May 11th with a concert tentatively planned for May 17th. All rehearsals will be at Biloxi High School on Sundays from 3pm-4:30pm.
Repertoire:
Based on the interest forms that have been submitted so far, there are a few options on what direction we can go with the program of the first concert. I’m really excited about that! With that being said, if you know anyone that is interested in joining, please encourage them to sign up sooner than later to help our decisions!
With this being the first time we are ever meeting, I will send out pieces of various difficulty for you to look over and get your thoughts on in the coming weeks before March 16th. We will spend a majority of the first rehearsal reading through those. I want to play pieces that are first attainable for us, but additionally that you all WANT to play. I want this ensemble to be an outlet of excitement for you just as much as it will be for the community. You are volunteering your time and I will always recognize that and show you my appreciation for allowing me this opportunity to work, grow, and make wonderful music with you.
Future of the Ensemble:
As we get to know each other, you’ll find that I am a huge music nerd. I am extremely optimistic on the future of this ensemble. With the level of experience you all have, it is already looking to be something special. Additionally, we have some of the greatest minds in the area assisting behind the scenes with this project ensuring its success that I’m excited to recognize soon. This is something I plan to continue for years to come, and you are always welcome.
